The Ins and Outs of Computer Animation

So What Exactly Is Computer Animation?

Let's begin with looking at 3D animation. Computer 3D animation pertains to the effort of taking static photos and creating the illusion of motion. Work is created in a digital environment which is three-dimensional. Motion is produced when the drawing you are working with changes to give illusion of movement. For example, if a character's hand in a drawing is moved up just a bit within the next drawing, then flipping back and forth between the original and the new drawing will produce up and down movement of a hand.

When there are many 2D drawings, each drawing creates one frame of movement. Put all these frames together in order, creates a extremely smooth illusion of a hand moving up. Adding more frames into the process produces a smoother, fluid movement. The movement looks natural to the naked eye. To generate a best even flow of motion, the movements ought to be continual, in modest actions and really gradual. It's a painful procedure when carried out manually. Computers have revolutionized the animation industry.

2D Animation - Hand Drawn Animation

Conventional animation is still alive and well. There are several studios all through the world that still develop outstanding manual 2D animation. It is a well-established art form. 2D animation is really straight forward. Drawings are produced on paper and are utilized via the use of celluloid transparencies. This is where the word cell animation originated from. Placing one cell top of another with slight changes enables the artist to proof the movements and get a good idea of the animation sequence and quality.

3D Animation - Personal Computer Animation

3D animation emerged as a new art form and own uniqueness. In 3D animation, absolutely nothing is developed on paper. The animation is completed inside a computerized environment and rendered all together at one time. Characters or objects are developed and modeled utilizing an environment that's 3 dimensional in nature. Inside a personal computer environment the subject might be manipulated and modified in real-time with out the use of cells or paper. This can be an extremely advanced way of performing animation and calls for unique software programs to completely render a 3D animated character or object.

3D Animation Software Program

For most, software program costing $5000 - $50,000 just isn't required to produce some wonderful pc animated movies, effects and a lot more.

Most expert studios use Maya. It is software program most 3D studios purchase to create professional projects. As soon as you get proficient in 3D animation, this software program could be some thing you might wish to take into account.

You'll find two levels of Maya, the very first is Maya Complete as well as the other is Maya Unlimited. As you'll be able to guess the cost between the two is night and day. Be ready to pay thousands of dollars for software program like this plus the added price of add-ons. Maya Complete comes with less features where as, Maya Unlimited will be much more robust of the two. Whatever.

There's also a new wave of animation software that hit the market last year that has lowered the entry price level and also raised quality features. They are much lower in price and offer Maya like features that are second to none. You may want to research more information for software products that can help you reach your goals animation goals without spending thousands of dollars. Once a person reaches a skill set found in studios like Disney and DreamWorks, then it's time to buy a higher priced tool set of animation tools, yet for about ninety percent of those reading this article. The newer software released this year, is good if not perfect for the beginner to intermediate animator.

Keeping up with computer animation tools is important. The industry constantly changes and new, powerful animation software tools are being created everyday. Disney's Rapunzel Is Becoming an Official Disney Princess

It wasn't so long ago when Disney's 'Tangled' hit the big screen as the studios 50th film and wowing audiences with its 3D animation. This was a risky step for Disney as they would be compared against 3D animation veterans Pixar and Dreamworks. However, this was by no means a competition. The film had mixed reviews but was well received overall. Despite the change Disney had made, they still kept the magic and that special formula everyone loves. Besides, if it's not broke; don't fix it and this is exactly what Disney did. They played to their strengths and produced the one thing they're best at; a heart-warming fairy-tale.

The step towards 3D could be regarded as many things. Is Disney trying to keep up with the other studios animation techniques? Has 2D become less popular as a result? Or is this merely a tip of the hat towards Pixar and the ilk? I like to think it's the later. Yes, this was a risk for Disney, but the animation they created rivalled even that of Pixar. The reason for this is obvious when watching the film, but one thing stands out from the rest of the film. Every Disney movie will have songs in it, it's like a Disney rule and this can be seen as an obstacle for the animators, but they took on the challenge and produced something that looks flawless and may get you believing it was done with human actors initially.

The new Disney Princess, Rapunzel, is the star of 'Tangled' and will be the 10th member, joining Arial, Aurora, Belle, Cinderalla, Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas, Snow White and Tiana. This will mean that Rapunzel will be included in the merchandise line as well as getting her own.

To celebrate this, Disney have organised a celebration to welcome Rapunzel as a princess in London at Kensington Palace and Hyde Park, where girls of all ages will be able to join the party. But this is more than a celebration, it is also to educate children on real-life kings, queens and princesses.

"Our aim is to help everyone explore the stories of how monarchs and other royals have shaped society, in some of the greatest palaces ever built," added Ruth Gill, Head of Interpretation at Historic Royal Palaces.

It is no surprise that London would be centre stage for this event. Following the Royal Wedding and the Queen's Birthday, it is clear that London knows how to celebrate in Royal style, fitting for any Disney Princess.

All the other Disney Princesses will be joining Rapunzel at the celebrations followed by a procession through Hyde Park. Suffice it to say this will be a must-see event for Disney Fans.

Finally, this will also mean that guests to Disney parks will be able to meet Rapunzel wearing the stolen tiara, which was stolen by Flynn Rider in the film.

How to Guide to Stock Photography

So, you have decided to make some money from your pictures and sell them as Stock Photography? Your collection of stock photographs can be very good. I don't know your collections, but there is a huge difference between taking good or great pictures and photos which sell. You can see great pictures in photo magazines and exhibitions, which people admire, but these pictures don't make you much money. Pictures, which make you money so called stock photographs, may not be great, but these fulfill the need of the buyer. Fro example pictures on packaging, in textbooks, leaflets, promotional material etc.

When you are going to take a picture, you need to think not in composition of the photograph itself (by the way, golden rule is better than rule of thirds), but in terms that part of the picture will be filled with the text, coupon or some insert of other picture.

I know, it can be sometimes frustrating, because this may not satisfy your eye for good composition, but this is what makes photography to sell. It doesn't mean that photos are bad, it just mean that you need to take pictures with the buyer in mind. For example to take a landscape picture vertical, instead horizontal (magazines are in vertical format) and leave more sky for buyers to insert whatever they decide. The text will not obstruct your picture in the final form by anything. You will have much better chance to be featured for example on the front page of some magazine instead.

Try to avoid supplying stock photo libraries which offer royalty free pictures or cheap pictures. If you do, this will bring you little income and you lose your copyright to these pictures. There are many other serious stock picture buyers, who will buy your pictures with one time publication and will be willing to pay much larger price for your photos. Don't sell yourself cheap. You can offer cheaper prices on the beginning but you can raise your prices later, when stock photography buyers know you more.

Remember, the most stock libraries take a large cut of the price of each photograph sold. They are in business to make money from photographers. This is ok, as long as these photographers have a good deal. This may not always be the case. So, before sending your stock photos to any stock photo library, read the small print. Choose only those stock photo libraries, which give you satisfactory deal and percentage.

3D Animation - What Does It Have to Do With the Animation Industry?

3D animation from the onset has made a major impact on the industry. It's not only a challenge for the 3D artist, but also for the software programmers who supports the artist with robust and feature filled tools. Without the computers and 3D software, the industry would not be charging forward as it is today. The underlining work like the frames and models of the shot can be simple, but when it comes to motion or the movements this is where the characters become a handful. The creative juice and experience of the animator comes into play. This is why studios often only work with certain animators. They have the strengths and skills that match the studios direction.

Don't fret if a particular studio does not like your skills. It just means that you have not found a studio that understands your skills and strengths. Only an artist can bring life to a character in a way that makes it look real enough to give an entertainment value to its viewers. You may be the animator who can pull this off. Each animator has his or her particular strength.

3D Visual Styling

3D animation and the visual styling is something that has to be taken into account. For instance rendering a project is a large portion of how the final product will appear. To properly render a character or object, the artist needs to plan it out. The planning needs to include the method and kind of software to support the project. Not all software is the same. The objective of the animation needs to synch with all movements to make the character look realistic. Now-a-days directing the movements of a character is done by people. Sensors are placed on real human beings who input those movements into a computer. Later those movements are added to a character that will mimic a person's movements. Cinematography is also a vital element of animation since the animators have the power to control the position and the movement of the camera when doing a computer animated picture.

Proper drawn 3D computer animation image sequences and lighting has a large impact on the completed product. Both the formation of the character and aspects are planned out before the project starts. One of the most complex parts of 3D animation is the facial animated features. Just the simple blinking of an eye can throw off the animation if done incorrectly. Lots of attention is given to small features like eye movements, mouth, eyebrows etc. Done wrong will take away from the realism of the character.

A Career in 3D Animation

If a person is looking at a career in animation, it is always good to buy tools like animation software to get an early jump on learning the foundation before enrolling in an animation class. No matter the field you are leaning towards, it is good to get an early idea about the basic skills in 3D computer animation. 3D computer animation by far is the most popular of any type of animation and also the most fun. Enrolling in an animation school is the best way to not only learn the trade, but also help you decide on your animation specialty. Finding your strength is the most important thing and the easiest way to find that is through education and practice.

Now that you have a little understanding of what it takes to secure the many 3D animation jobs, you will want to click on this link http://makeyourownanimation.net/ to gain further information on animation software, news and tutorials that can help propel your knowledge forward.

Easy-To-Use 3D Animation Software

Computer animations have certainly come a long way over the recent years with all the advances in computer technology. It is now possible to make stunning life-like animations using many animation software packages. Modern computer animation usually uses 3D computer graphics, although 2D computer graphics are still used for stylistic, low bandwidth, and faster real-time renderings. 3D animations used in film have found millions of appreciating fans. The life-like, colorful animation figures have captured the eyes of people young and old.

There are multiple easy-to-use, low cost software packages available that actually allow any average computer user to create stunning 3D animations. Many of the high dollar software packages like Maya or 3D Studio Max require specialized training and experience before one is effective at using them. Some packages, however, have a more intuitive and simple interface while at the same time being powerful enough to create professional grade results. These simpler-to-use packages allow the user to create high quality 3D graphics, produce cartoon animated film, draw and animate 3D models, create real-time interactive 3D content, as well as create and render exceptionally rich & realistic natural environments. Some even have capabilities for designing full-fledged 3D games easily.

Physics engines these days are also an essential must-have for any successful 3D animation software package. Physics engines account for realistic-looking interactions between the different animation elements. These engines allow for proper rigid body dynamics to take place, providing advanced functionality in action-based animations including crashes, friction, flight, vehicle motion, and such. These capabilities, made possible in part by the tremendous available computing power over the past few years, have raised the bar for the quality that has come to be expected of the animated and graphics material. These physics engines are only expected to get better and better as more software technologies are developed, and all this will lead to ever more realistic animations being created.

Some of these 3D animation software packages have very strong capabilities but require long periods of training before one is somewhat productive using them. Most software packages are able to produce the most complex animation sequences but some are also very expensive to buy. Other packages have an intuitive interface geared more towards the average user instead of the pro. Some of these other packages also offer very affordable pricing without compromising on the capabilities or feature sets. Visit the link below to learn more about some of these affordable options.
